![]() ![]() Wiring is all very neat and nothing appears disturbed. Electronically the guitar is very simple with a single Musicmaster pickup and single volume and Tone controls. There is no evidence of modification or repair and the refinish has been well colour matched to the original tan colour. The body, although refinished is in very good condition. The neck has a slab rosewood fingerboard with clay dot position markers. The heel has a feint pencil date that is hard to make out fully but 7-60 are legible. The neck lacquer is showing some light wear as the thin finish has worn with use. The Musicmaster was a constant seller for Fender, the model remained in production throughout the ’60s and ’70s before being discontinued in 1982 after 26 years.Īpart from the sympathetically refinished body the guitar is in great condition. There was a subtle change in name to Musicmaster II and the aesthetic shifted to bring it in line with the new Mustang guitar. 1964 would see the Musicmaster given a refresh after the recent introduction of the Mustang to the Fender range. At this point the delicate gold anodised pickguard changed to plastic. The Desert Sand finish subtlety changed to Tan at this point and a Sunburst finish was also offered to compliment. The first evolution came in 1959 when, like the rest of the Fender range, the fingerboard switched to Rosewood. ![]() It was constructed in the same manner as the Telecaster and the Stratocaster with bolt on maple necks and a solid body. Accompanied by the dual pickup Duo-Sonic the Musicmaster was initially available in a simple Desert Sand finish with a gold anodised pickguard. The Musicmaster was introduced in 1956 as a part of Fender's new, student focused series. The Fender Advertising of the time was correct “You won’t part with yours either”. Lovely Fender Musicmaster from 1960 in excellent condition with a sympathetic body only refin in the correct Tan finish, slab rosewood fingerboard with clay dots, cream guard with brown pickup cover and the sweetest sounding single coil neck pickup. South Georgia & South Sandwich Islands (GBP £). ![]() The ES stamp was used on some guitars in 1966 and generally denoted some kind of special order whether it be a custom color, neck width, celebrity order, etc. The neck pocket bears the stamp "ES" which stands for "Entered Special". All parts are original to the guitar and in good working condition. With a neck heel date of June '66 and a pickup date of 1-13-1967, we can easily date this guitar to early 1967. This early 1967 Fender Musicmaster II has just arrived from the son of the original owner and has survived in excellent original condition. Both models were redesigned in 1964 and received a 24" scale neck (same as the Jaguar) and popular offset waist body. While the Musicmaster and Duo-Sonic received fewer appointments than the professional grade guitars, they were made to the same high quality standards. Leo Fender introduced Musicmaster model in 1956 to fill the gap that was student level solid body guitars. Please contact me here to sell a vintage Fender guitar.
